Ted had a total of five alcohol convictions. He was now living in Florida and needed a clearance from Michigan in order to obtain a Florida driver’s license. He tried to represent himself but was unsuccessful. He turned to me for help. Further, he never had any alcohol treatment and only attended Alcoholics Anonymous when forced to do so in prison.
At the hearing, I provided the hearing officer with additional positive evidence, including a favorable alcohol evaluation and 5 letters of sobriety. Ted testified he was alcohol and drug-free for over 2 years.
The hearing officer granted Ted a clearance so he could obtain a Florida driver’s license.
